St. Nicholas’ Popular Festival

The Church of St. Nicholas is located in the town of Beit Jala. The feast takes place on December 19th. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of Beit Jala.

The feast starts in Beit Jala on December 17th on St. Barbara’s Day. Choirs and exhibitions are held in the town, an afternoon mass is held on December 18th to celebrate the day of St. Sabas. Then chorals from Beit Jala schools are sung, and a night mass at St. Nicholas Cave is held. On December 19th a morning mass celebrating St. Nicholas feast takes place followed by a reception at the Arab Orthodox Benevolent Society near the Church. Children activities and bazaars are also held during the three days of the feast.
